Abstract

Science and technology are developing so rapidly that electronic equipment and instruments are widely used, but emission of electromagnetic radiation is also introduced and occurs at the same time so that it continues to have the potential to cause interference. This also applies to the use of coaxial cable, where coaxial cable is commonly used in several fields that do require cable as a data transmission medium. To overcome interference from electromagnetic interference (EMI), it is necessary to do simulation and design to see the efficiency and accuracy of shielding on coaxial cable. In this case the frequency range used is 0.1 GHz - 1 GHz. The purpose of this study was to compare and simulate the shielding efficiency of coaxial cable between aluminum shielded and unshielded, and to compare the results of shielding attenuation on the RG-58 coaxial cable in the Caltex Riau Polytechnic laboratory. In this final project (TA) a simulation is carried out to see the efficiency and accuracy of aluminum shielding so that it can be seen how efficient and accurate the simulation results are compared to the results of measurements on coaxial cables directly. The cable used is the RG-58 cable. The expected result is to be able to perform simulations with good shielding effectiveness and accuracy on the RG-58 coxial cable and can show that the use of efficient EM software allows simulation of efficient EMI field penetration into the coaxial cable.
