Abstract

A schedule is crucial to the success of a project so that it is completed within the specified
timeframe. Construction of a block on a tugboat is one of the projects used as a case study. The aim of time
estimation is to determine the length of time required to complete a block with the stages of work involved. In
order to ensure the work process runs on a schedule, a time estimation is done before the work is performed.
This data is processed via a computer program. Microsoft Project is a familiar application used in project
management or to assist in the processing of a project. The purpose of this study is to estimate the construction
time of Block 1 and the work in the critical path on the 35-meter ASD tug ship. In this study, researchers
observe and participate in the construction of a ship block using the observation method. The results obtained
from this study are the estimated construction time of one ship block which is built in stages from marking,
cutting, fitting, quality assurance, welding and grinding, to the final inspection by the Quality Control
department.
